the date was may 29, 1997.......it's another one of THOSE dates where you can recall where you were and what you were doing.

in this case, i was living and working in dallas, texas, having the most incredible summer of my life.

i was checking out the usual music news websites at work and the news came out that jeff buckley was dead.

not only was jeff dead, but how it all happened was just heartbreaking.

while in memphis recording his second album, jeff decided to cool off by jumping into the mississippi river. before long, the current had pulled him under and jeff was gone.

on this day, pull out "grace" and crank it.

it's guaranteed to produce goosebumps all over again.

BYOP must have started their set at 7.30, because we walked in and only caught 3 tunes.
bummer.
the monkeys were tight and did not disappoint.

may 10 saw me headed to indianapolis to catch wintersleep open for the tragically hip @ the vogue.
what you need to understand is that THE HIP only plays hockey arenas in canada, so having the opportunity to see them in a small, sweaty club is like a fucking dream come true.
so i did not pass it up.
and i did not leave disappointed!
the guys were tight and really seemed to enjoy the smaller venue.

next up on my 2007 live music calendar:
the reunited dinosaur jr. @ the phoenix in toronto on june 8.

all of my worries are over!
