About a week ago, the main website for Chris Whitley noted that he was fighting some health issues, but it was never made clear what is ailing him.

Today, on the main discussion boards at the same website, the extent of Chris's ill health was finally revealed: Chris was formally diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in its advanced stages.

From all accounts, Chris is resting peacefully and is in little physical pain.
